1st International VIB PhD Symposium, Brussels 18-19 September 08

by Miriam Mendes last modified 2008-04-30 12:02

This is the announcement of a symposium organized by and for PhD students from different areas in the life sciences. It is not organised by DC-THERA but could be of interest to young researchers

The Vibes2008-organizing committee would like to invite you to the 1st International VIB PhD Symposium, a symposium organized by and for PhD students from different areas in the life sciences.

Our symposium’s audience will be Ph.D. students from different areas in the life sciences. We aim with the symposium to provide answers to topics that may concern every Ph.D. student, such as the future of science, new emerging technologies and research fields, as well as our future careers. The Symposium is spread over two days and would tackle four broad subjects: Future Technologies, Drug Discovery, Mind and Evolution, and, finally, Science Careers. Not only are we hosting such brilliant minds as Daniel C. Dennett, Gary Lynch, Barbara Marte, Andrew Moore and Martin Heisenberg, we will also be featuring the European première of Jorge Cham (more commonly known as “That Guy From PhD Comics” – www.phdcomics.com) – in short, a little bit of everything for everyone.
The Symposium will be held at the meeting centre ‘t Pand located in the city Ghent, Belgium. To clarify, this symposium is accessible for all PhD students (VIB and NON-VIB related) and international PhD students, meaning European students, can apply for travel/lodging grants.

All participating labs of DC-Thera will receive a poster by mail. Hopefully we receive your support and that this poster receives a nice visible spot for your PhD students.
All information, including the registration procedure, can be found at www.vibes2008.org
We hope to see you all there!
